Magnolia

Apparently this is an ancient species of plant dating back over 20 million years! They pre-date bees and were originally pollinated by beetles (apparently why their carpals are so tough....).
I think they are a beautiful prelude to Spring flowers and always a joy to see. This lovely specimen is in the next door garden, behind my office.
I think I might have to get one for my garden.
