April challenge - day 18
Night
I've been wanting to do a blip like this for ages ,and today's challenge provided the ideal motivation - much needed because it was wet and cold, and I'd had a really long day at Uni (which included an exam) and work.
I clearly need a bit of practice at the long exposure technique because I got a bit of camera wobble, but I liked the funky effect it gave the motorway lights! I balanced the camera on the hand rail but was so scared it was going to fall off and be run over by the cars below, and steadying it with my hand wasn't good enough (I tried a small tripod but the camera was too heavy).
I was also consious that I was a prime target for any wierdo wanting to mug/attack me on a dark and lonely motorway bridge...!
On another note - this is a view of the M4 going out of Reading. I consider the M4 'my' motorway. It has featured heavily throughout my life, including when I lived in London during my nurse training, as I regularly used it to get home. It was also the route to my boyfriend, who later became my husband, and so has been well travelled over the years to visit the in-laws.
Going the other way (West), it has been the main route to both my brothers and their families, who live in Wiltshire and Bristol. It probably has added poignancy for me as it was built in the late 50's, early 60's - just about when I was born, so we've grown up together!
