Coopers

Coopers (named after an Australian beer apparently) has been visiting these last few days and today it was just the two of us for the afternoon.

The other three went to Bradford to watch football - Bradford City and Carlisle United. On the way they picked up Joanne’s friend and her two boys, so it was quite a merry band of Bradford supporters, with Gordon supporting Carlisle, but with a soft spot for the city he has lived in for most of his life.

I was going to go with them, not for the football obviously, but probably to be dropped off at Saltaire or somewhere. In the end I decided to stay at home and look after the dog.

When they arrived back I had ready for them a Cumbrian meal to round off our Cumbria/Yorkshire foodie weekend. I did Morecambe Bay potted brown shrimps with toast (I know, but I couldn’t get Silloth shrimps despite the fact that Gordon’s sister-in-law’s family own the shrimp outlet in Silloth). Then it was Cumberland sausage and mash (creamed potatoes!). And of course Cartmel Sticky Toffee Pudding and ice cream. It all went down very well. The beer was Cumbrian but the wine was French.

It’s been great fun having the three of them here, but they set off early tomorrow morning to drive down to Cornwall.

Coopers is looking a bit elderly now, with a grey muzzle. The rest of her is turning brownish, which is possibly because of the amount of time she spends in the sun and the sea or just because it sometimes happens to labradors.
