Come on! Catch up!
Coopers loved Bowes Castle - it must be the most hidden away castle, impressive with great views and lots of space for dogs to run around in.
A day spent touring the North Pennines AONB.
Started with a seat on ‘The Bench’ at Barnard Castle (see extra - the photo our son-in-law sent to all his friends just to prove that Barnard Castle exists and he’s been there - though not to get his eyes tested!), Bowes Museum, lunch at the Rose and Crown, Romaldskirk (thanks Stuart for reminding us of a good place we knew long ago), a visit to the impressive High Force waterfalls, then the scenic drive over Hartshead, (except that it wasn’t scenic by then, more atmospheric!). Finally we diverted to see the Allison gravestones at Addingham and remember the ancestors.
A lovely day, despite the weather, and an entertaining evening in great company. Tomorrow . . . very different.
