Sipping

I'm beginning to think that, unless I am careful, I will need to rename this journal "things with wings".  I do very much enjoy taking pictures of things with wings but perhaps a few more landscapes wouldn't go amiss!

However, today at least, I couldn't resist this beautiful green veined white sitting on the osteospermum in the sunshine earlier on.  Had it not been for this little visitor I would almost certainly have been serving up a damselfly for your delectation and delight, or perhaps not if you are not a fan.  While this butterfly is very similar to the small white (or cabbage white as it is known) this green veined species Pieris napi is saved from such obscurity by the lovely soft yellow tones of the under wing and the ivy like green outlining the wing veins.

I've added an extra of a pair of courting Holly Blues busy about to ensure the survival of the species ... the female is the one on the left of the shot.
