The Beresford

I had never really  noticed this iconic former hotel in Sauchiehall Street. I arrived a tad early for choir and was pacing around the block when it jumped out as today’s blip. Apparently it was built for the Empire Exhibition in the 30s and was for a quite a while the tallest building in the city.
Earlier in the afternoon I saw Velvet Queen at the GFT, a mesmerising French film about tracking elusive snow leopards in Tibet, a wonderful blend of philosophy and natural history.
Choir was more exciting than usual. We recorded a couple of songs for the Making Music Platinum Jubilee competition.  Seven winners will be chosen, one to represent each decade of the Queen's reign.  The winners will then have their piece professionally recorded and played on Classic FM later this year.  The winning pieces will also be featured in a compilation album that will be presented to the Queen.
Best of all I bumped into a former colleague from Inverness. We had a great impromptu catch up, and met up again after choir.
