Hardly Machiavellian Princes
On This Day In History
1469: Niccolo Machiavelli is born
Quote Of The Day
"If an injury has to be done to a man, it should be so severe that his vengeance need not be feared."
(Nicollo Maciavelli, The Prince)
The second quote about vengeance in a row. Tomorrow's quote won't be, though.
A beautiful day for the Constitution Day, the first of three consecutive national holidays in Japan consituting Golden Week. Like my school, many businesses just close for the entire week. So, I took a five and half hour bicycle ride to Amagasaki Castle and then on to Maishima. Despite it's appearance, this Hundertwasser building in Maishima is not a palace; it's an incinerator! K and I went there many years ago for a guided tour; it's utterly fascinating.
You can see the incinerator quite clearly on the bus ride to Kansai Airport. We always used to tell V and A that it was Aladdin's palace.
