Day One - Melrose to Jedburgh

We set off this morning after a substantial breakfast. We left our car at a friend’s house in Innerleithen and he drove us to Melrose Abbey, the starting point for the walk. Cloudy but mild. After a very steep climb up the Eildons (fantastic views) and a picnic in St Boswells, we reached Harestanes late afternoon. Sadly I thought that our B & B was in Harestanes but turns out it was in Jedburgh so we had another 5 miles to walk, over and above the 15 we’d already walked! Thankfully a very lovely lady took pity on us when she saw me hobbling along and drove us the last 2 miles. Recovering now after a hot shower and food. Exhausted. Hoping that I’ll feel better in the morning.
