I got home mid-morning from the overnighter at work, felt a bit tired, thought I'd just go out for a couple of easy hours on the bike - a roll down the coast and back, nowt too strenous.

But then when I got out there it felt alright and I got a bit carried away and thought I'd head Gifford way and before you know it I was climbing up Redstone Rig, that's the 17% gradient sign there in the photo, hardly the easiest bit of road to haul yoursen up. But it did actually still feel alright. Really.

Obviously tonight I've not done much more than lie on the sofa watching snooker.
