Flowers for Our Lady
Yet again, caught wrong footed in church - everyone except us brought flowers for Our Lady this morning, oh well... At one point, they all filed up and placed them in a big basket held by a couple, it made quite a display. May is Mary's month, and today is Mother's Day in Portugal. The guy lounging on the outside is so typical of the Alentejo.
On the way down to the Adega afterwards, saw a crowd in the gallery, so went in - it was a display of local art and crafts, including some amazing models - extra looking into the one of the church in Reguengos, which was so well done - looking into the front door, you could see the priest celebrating Mass, with the chalice and everything, and folk filing up to receive it. Catholicism is ingrained in the Portuguese people - whether they practice it or not.
Picking Guillaume up in a bit for Sem Fim, first time in ages folk are gathering, everyone has been away or had visitors, as we have, too.
Gratefuls:
- Sienna Mae, born to Mike's niece yesterday at 13:47, weighing 8lb9oz and beautiful, a very long and tough time for Hannah, but all safe now, thank God
- summer is suddenly here, so hot today!
- singing without a mask for the first time in so long (though plenty were still wearing them)
