WITH A SONG IN MY HEART

A Short Cut…

…to the supermarket - Morrisons, and B&M.
We are moored right next to it and another old mill chimney in Skipton.
We came down this morning after Bella’s walkies. She then had to stay on board while we went for a jaunt round town. It was quiet as it wasn’t a market day. We went for an early lunch at The Flipside a pancake place that has vegan pancakes on the menu - we hadn’t been in before but will definitely be back. Oh my word it was delicious, Frank had a breakfast which came wrapped in a crepe but I couldn’t resist the American Stack with bananas, strawberries, blueberries and maple syrup. Yummeee!
The staff were really friendly too.
We had a look in next and Frank got himself a Tshirt and some snazzy undies - good job they won’t be seen by anyone, you’d need sunglasses!
I can’t get enthused about any women’s clothes I’ve seen lately, some of the fabrics are awful. We then went to Fatface and Frank bought 2 tops in the sale, which I paid for as I still owed him a birthday present. That man knows how to shop! I just bought the boring things we needed, soap, paracetamol etc.
The weather has been sunny and dry but still a bit on the cool side.

Today’s poem is about a window I pass whenever I walk along the tow path. The house is below the tow path so I look down at it. I can’t help myself ever since I saw this domestic scene one evening. It looks such a welcoming little house. I didn’t Blip it as that would be intrusive. I told you I’m nosy!

7 Seconds

I saw her through her kitchen window
below the tow path, whilst walking Bella.
A motherly figure; older but still beautiful,
she was preparing a meal.
In this, seconds long snapshot, I could tell
by the stack of colourful plates and dishes,
she must either have a very large family
or she was expecting visitors.
Steam was rising from a large cooking pot
and she was deftly chopping vegetables,
a rich aroma of spices wafted out from a vent
cutting through the cool night air.
As I moved on she turned away to greet someone
her green and gold sari floating from her shoulder,
her glossy black hair hanging in a thick plait
almost down to her waist.
On my way back, the kitchen light was off
but from somewhere in the house there was a glow,
I imagined them, sitting round the table talking,
laughing, complementing her on her cooking.
Me and the dog walked home in the twilight.

That’s all for today, I’ve Blipped earlier than I usually manage!
