Postcard from Edinburgh #1 Tea Junction Takeaway
Hi there everyone
I'm reading a book by David Byrne at the moment, 'Bicycle Diaries'. He's a right character and chats about places all over the world where he rides his bike. He's been talking about places that will be ruins in the future and they'll dig them up to find out how we used to live. Made me think of the old Tea Junction Takeaway - although I doubt anyone will ever dig this place up - no one will ever discover one of their centuries old chipped cups or sniff one of Maggie's fossilised bacon rolls!
Anyway, I was surprised to find the old place still standing, never mind a postcard of it. As you can see, it looks like it will be taken away itself pretty soon! I suppose the bulldozers will see to it and they'll throw up another supermarket or a block of flats. Do you remember the old flats down the road where 'Trainspotting' was set - I wonder if that chancer Renton used to come here for a cuppa now and then? Well, we never saw him if he did!
Happy days!
Lots of love,
Dad
