Said the wife to the husband
Yes dear, that twig there. The one right in front of your beak. Just move it a little more to the right. Yes, that's the one I mean. Now move that a little to your right. Thank you dear.
Today started out rather sunny but it clouded over very quickly. It started to drizzle just as I left the house to ride to the sanctuary this afternoon. I still stopped at the artificial island hoping to see whether the first Great Crested Grebe's egg might have hatched yet. Unfortunately the Grebe didn't get up and I decided not to stay any longer when the drizzle turned into rain.
Thankfully the rain stopped before I reached the park and I had a dry walk with one of the dogs from the sanctuary. I stopped at the island again on the way home but still the Grebe did not let me have a look inside its nest. The swan was not very obliging either and I was only able to get one quick glimpse of some of its eggs when she was turning them.
When I got home I had a very difficult time choosing an entry out of the photos that I managed to take at the island today and I kept changing my mind every few seconds so eventually I decided to pick one by pointing a finger at my computer screen with my eyes closed. The lucky shot was this one of a pair of Coots.
During my ride to the sanctuary I started to have a painful twinge in my left knee on a particular stretch that goes uphill quite a bit. Many years ago, when I was still at school, my left knee was diagnosed with a tiny hairline fracture to the meniscus which seems to have remained a weaker spot and every so often I get some pain in this knee when I've been exerted it too much. The pain usually disappears again after a few days.
Thank you so much for all the kinds comments and stars on my Moorhen blip from yesterday.
