The Meadows (not exactly pictured)

I took this photo largely for future reference. It's taken from the south side of Chapel Street, looking across to Salford Meadows, and just on the far side of the railings, and maybe thirty feet down, is the Irwell.

During the rush hours and on match days, Chapel Street is really busy, yet there are plans to introduce trams and otherwise pedestrianise it, which will be amazing but God knows where the traffic will go. And they are also planning two footbridges across into the Meadows, which would be wonderful.

Anyway, I was walking down to the Co-op to get breakfast things before heading back north while the Minx spent the day in the garden, but in the end I stayed for the morning, helping her clear a load of very well established ivy in anticipation of the fence being replaced.

It was no big deal in the grand scheme of things but, as a very impractical person, I was disproportionately chuffed that I'd helped out.
