Bottle garden
Any plastic bottles that find their way into the house are not headed for a quick retirement in the bin.
First they serve as freezer containers for the stock I make from bones and veggie bits (which is used for soup and risotto), and after that they embark on their third lives as protective covers for seedlings in the garden (here, some baby lettuves that have just been moved from the greenhouse.) This way, they can have long and useful lives from season to season.
Ultimately that mysterious fate, known as "recycling" , will catch up with them. Not that very much actual recycling of plastics is done, or is even possible.
