Sanna beach
A gentler day consisting of a series of short walks as the weather became more and more sunny, it was 19 degrees half way through the afternoon.
The first led to a chance encounter with the Highland Council Access Officer for these parts. I was aware of the background to the current access issue where Ramblers Scotland and Highland Council are going to Court over the landowners attempt to permanently disallow access to a historic pathway from Glenborrodale to Acharacle. He told me that the case is suspended while a compromise solution is sought. I later found out thanks to theferret.scot that the land owner is also the owner of Ardnamurchan distillery and reportedly the second largest donor to the Better Together campaign. I may just increase my donation to the Ramblers Support Glenborrodale legal case.
There are no known access issues to the Glenborrodale nature trail which occupied a chunk of the morning, and a brief visit to the distillery (before I knew about the access connection).
By one o’clock the sun was fully out and made for perfect coastal walking at Sanna. The views were even better than yesterday with Barra and Stulaval on South Uist clearly visible. Eigg looked close enough to be swimable.
I changed my otter strategy and looked instead for tracks and signs and was rewarded with several lots of crab shell detritus.
