Off to pastures new

Our neighbour Jenny is a vet and has these Zwartble sheep which she was moving to another field this morning. Val and I met them on our way back after we’d had a 3.5 mile walk along the riverside and then up diagonally from Lady Bridge to Pondicherry. It was interesting that Val lived here all her life but didn’t know the stiles and path were there. She also told me that if you get a faint line on your Covid test it means you don’t have Covid. According to her it’s just flu. (The deaths and hospitalisations are also fake news. - If she tells me the PM is doing his best and there’s more important things to worry about than lying and breaking the law I’m not sure I can stand it).

It’s been a beautiful warm day. In the afternoon I drove Chris to Stanton Hall and gardens to get some plants for our pots. It’s a bit soon - they were all in the greenhouses still. It’s a lovely place to sit in the garden with a coffee, listen to all the birds, and have a chat. The drive was nice too - there are many little country lanes we could have gone so I put it on google and she sent us a way we’d never tried before which gave Chris great views, and me driving practice.

Ella and Nathaniel are enjoying drama club - he is Ron and she is Mrs McGonegal in Harry Potter the musical. I can’t go to the performance though as there’s only space for parents. It’s usually recorded so I’ll see that.

A friend called to lend me the next book group read. “Archy and Mehitabel” by Don Marquis written about 100 years ago. Anyone read it? I think it might be “whimsical” though the blurb says it’s social satire.
