Knock on Wood
Mrs C has bought some new trainers designed for off road use, so we walked into town for our usual Sunday coffee via Serpentine Woods to test them out. None of the trees that came down in the winter storms have been removed, rather they have just been cut away where they have fallen across a path. I’m assuming the plan is to let nature takes it course and for the fallen trees to rot down over the years whilst the younger trees still standing take advantage of the new gaps in the canopy to flourish and grow. It will be interesting to see what it all looks like ten years hence.
There is a sculpture trail through the woods and one of my favourites is this xylophone. Sadly, years of exposure to the elements means that only two of bars make a recognisable note when struck. It would be nice if someone could restore its playability.
I’m working my way through a massive pile of ironing this afternoon - it’s at the stage where it needs aircraft warning lights on top - as I’d like to have a totally relaxing day tomorrow. I’m gigging tonight so it’s out early and - knowing the venue - late back. Looking forward to it though. Having only played a couple of days ago, I’ve got a fighting chance of remembering what notes to play, and in what order!
