Goosander

This morning i decided to bite the bullet and see if i could get some medical input for my cough. To my astonishment when i phoned to ask i was offered an appointment at 9.45.i had fully expected having to have a phone appointment. Not only that but it was with my favourite doctor who doesn't normally work on a Thursday. The upshot is I have a nasty throat infection, and not as I feared bronchitis, 10 minutes later, I left with a prescriptive for antibiotics and very pleased not to have to contact our holiday insurers to tell them I've had a chest infection. I also left with the bad news that my doctor is retiring! Talk about making me feel old, he tells me he's been there 30 years.... I remember him being newly qualified!
The Goosanders were on the Water of Leith at Murrayfield. I'm always early for appointments and it's a good spot for duck watching. I saw a moorhen with a couple of chicks a little further down the river, but too far for a picture on my phone.
I popped into Ali's on my way home, it's always good to see her, she's looking forward to her weekend away.
Today being Maundy Thursday we had a church service this evening. No foot washing this year but our new Rector likes to use incense on special occasions. I was on server duty, so didn't have to actually use the incense, but was wafted with it several times. Incense and coughs do not go well together - at one point I had to escape into the vestry until I'd stopped coughing! Made me think of my friend Ruth, as do very many things. Fortunately I managed to do my reading without interruption though.
My sister had arrived while I was at church, Colin picked her up from the station. Haymarket station fortunately as getting to Waverley would have been a traffic nightmare.
Talking of traffic, I don't know what was going on on the Queensferry Road tonight, the traffic was still nose to tail all the way back to Craigleith till well after 7.30 and there were still queues on Ferry Road in D'mains when I came out of church at 9pm.
I don't know whether it was Easter Traffic or what but Edinburgh traffic has never been so badly managed as it is at the moment.
My extra shows that the spray painters have been out in Murrayfield Road, presumably another road closure in the pudding!
