Mondragon

Another lovely day today and again we've spent most of it in the garden.
This morning I made a quick raid on M&S and Morrisons, picking up a piece of fillet steak for our dinner tomorrow. Colin's choice as it's his birthday.
Kathryn and the girls arrived at around 1pm, complete with picnic and we've been in the garden since then. They'd been on Cramond Island this morning having an adventure - they'd checked the tide tables etc well in advance and the weather was just perfect for them. I really must go to Cramond Island, I have lived all but 5 years of my life within a couple of miles of it but have never been. As a child I had it dinned into me that it was dangerous and so it just never occurs to me to go.
Being in the garden for an extended period made me very pleased with the work I've done. Everything is springing into life once more. The clematis will be open in the next week to ten days, the peony buds are showing colour the dicentra is out, so are aubretia, saxifrage, scilla, grape hyacinth, pasque flower and a dozen different varieties of primula.
The daffodils are still emerging. The one I've blipped is a new one this year called Mondragon. I'm very pleased with it.
We're having a nice lazy spag bol from the freezer this evening, augmented by some posh parmesan from Mewes - so posh that if I'd seen the price before hand I'd probably not have bothered. Still it does have a lovely flavour. Mewes is one of the few places I can still get some of my favourite Caerphilly cheese. I do like the English and Welsh regional cheeses I'm a big fan of a sharp Cheshire too. As a teenager I had what was probably my dream job in the back shop, preparing cold meats and cheeses for the counter in Littlewoods. Have I mentioned I can bone a side of bacon then slice it on one of those lovely big red bacon slicing machines? My skills should be much in demand.
