Ending The Day The Right Way

Why is it that family get togethers always seem to involve having to wear a suit, carrying a packet of tissues, passing round old photos with curled corners (see extras) and wondering were the years are going?
More travelling followed, ending with being greeted "there's beer in fridge I'll go pick up the chips" is a very much appreciated end to the day.
