Cool for April

Mr C had to take the boys to Cragside NT because I was hosting the book group. He had to shell out £20 to get them in. We have Senior Cards and though we bought their parents a family card it was with them.

Shona couldn’t come to book group as she’d arrived back from childcare duties in London with a bug. Ailie is still showing a faint Covid positive so can’t see her daughter and family who arrived from NZ yesterday. Poor soul must be desperate. They only have 3 weeks here. Colin has tested positive after a music weekend up the valley and Linda has arrived home positive after a week in Denmark. Only Ailie was really poorly.

My choice of book was “Hungry” by Grace Dent. We found lots to talk about despite it being a light read. Sue couldn’t understand why ordinary people would think anyone would be interested in reading their autobiography when they’d contributed nothing to the world. I don’t get that. I prefer, for instance, something written by an unknown soldier to something by a general. In fact my friend Marion is writing a graphic history of her family including stuff from her uncle who was a doctor POW in a WW2 camp. His letters home were full of interest. It all makes me think about Hazelh’s Lorna blip and podcast. Such interesting and invaluable social history.

#2 daughter has started her new job and is so far impressed with the ethos of the firm.

BJ and his sorry crew get away with it yet again. Is Ruth Davidson angling for the role?

As for the NI women’s football manager - had he time-travelled in from the 1950’s?
