The Victorian Bandstand, Roberts Park, Saltaire
This is the recently restored Victorian bandstand in Roberts Park, Saltaire, a Victorian model village founded in 1851 by Sir Titus Salt. The village, a designated Unesco World Heritage site, was constructed to serve Salts Mill, the huge mill complex where wool and woollen cloth was produced and sold worldwide. Recently all the fabric of the park has been expertly restored and this bandstand now stands proud, looking very much as it did when it was new. Today the weather has been warm and sunny, enticing us to visit the genteel Victorian park and enjoy the feeling that spring may finally have arrived.
