TINY TUESDAY
I am really pleased with my orchids at the moment, they sit on my kitchen windowsill and flower non-stop for months on end. I water them just once a week, standing the whole pot in a bowl of tepid water for about half an hour, then drain off the water and leave it for another week. Our kitchen can be rather draughty because it has an outside door, but this doesn’t seem to faze my lovely orchids.
This one certainly deserves its fifteen minutes of fame on Blip, so here it is, in all its glory. It doesn’t have an actual name, although I know it is a Phalaenopsis, which comes from the Greek meaning “Moth-like”. It produces lots of exotic-looking blooms and although it had been dormant for sometime, once the flower stem showed signs of tiny buds, it was brought from the hall into the kitchen and now has five lovely blooms with three more tiny buds to bloom later. Apparently, pink orchids symbolise femininity, gracefulness, and joy.
Work is progressing on the roof - the two roofers turned up this morning, although it was pouring with rain, and said they would be putting up the plastic cladding today. Although the rain has now stopped, they are cracking on with that and no doubt the tiles will be removed tomorrow so that the joists and roof lining can be done. Lynn, our next door neighbour, whose roof was done first, is making hot dogs for all of us at lunch-time - so that’s a treat to look forward to!
Meanwhile, Mr. HCB is pottering in the greenhouse, taking cuttings and planting seeds and I am about to make his birthday cake shhhhhhhh.
I had to stop watching the news last night because it was so heartbreaking hearing and seeing the awful things that have been happening in Ukraine - so we continue to pray for all those affected by that war and all other conflicts in the world today.

but of the beauty that
still remains.”
