They're here ...
... that potential plague of outdoor living is out and about again I see, or is it? Read on to find out ... all is not what it seems
This little chap is tiny, he was no longer than 1cm and looks very freshly minted to my eyes. There's lots of yummy hairy detail in large if you can bear it. He looks like a wasp but he's actually a bee, a nomad bee to be precise.
These wasp-like bees do not collect pollen but are ‘cuckoo bees’ that lay eggs in the nest of other bee species. This one is probably Nomada goodeniana which will typically lay eggs in the nests of mining bees and in this case he was quite close to a nest of ashy mining bees.
