Back Tor to Mam Tor

Day 2

It started so well with fluffy white clouds with patches of blue but it soon became hazy and flat with no shadow for good contrast. On my holiday walk list was a traverse of the Great Ridge of Mam Tor 'the shivering mountain' to Lose Hill Pike with a circuit of the Edale Valley first. We avoided paying £5 parking by setting off from Hope Railway Stn although it added 1 mile to the walk. For those of you that know it we set off across the slopes of Win Hill to Hope Cross then round by Jaggers Clough to Edale village then up onto Mam Tor. It's here that you meet the ' I climbed a hill in 15 mins brigade' who park at the nearest car park for the short walk to the summit but who venture no further. From Mam Tor we traversed the 'Great Ridge' to Lose Hill and back to Hope. The image is the view back to Mam Tor (centre right) from Back Tor. There is a 100ft drop immediately to my right. It takes about 45 mins to an hour to do the whole ridge walk.
