A carving from Ripon Cathedral. Under the seat of the Cathedra, the Bishop’s chair.
The central figures are Joshua & Caleb, returning with produce & stories from the promised land. Either side are Blemyas, mythical characters, one with a head but no body, the other with a body but no head ….. perhaps signifying the unknown peoples from undiscovered lands.
