Clachnaharry Signal Box

Without (too much) further ado we left home about 09:30 this morning. By 12:00, having stopped for the briefest of wet walks at Killiecrankie, we were in Aviemore in the company of our elder son, his partner and our grandson. Of the family they were the only ones able to make use of the planned trip and three night stay. It was great to see them and to hear how their visit has been. We left them going off to the pantomime. There is a busy children's entertainment offering and they've made the most of it. Disco for them tonight.

Up the A9, quite a bit of snow by the roadside, to Inverness. Then on to the village of Clachnaharry which is really part of Inverness. We stayed here, in the same cottage, in 2018. We have booked to return about five times and this is the first time we've managed it. It is the sweetest one bedroom cottage sandwiched between the railway line and the Caledonian Canal. I am very happy to be here.

The weather is awful so there's no point in blipping the lovely landscape. That will be another day. Instead here is the 19th century Clachnaharry Signal Box which must be the one of the most photographed in Scotland.

It's Cameraman's birthday so I'm watching him open some cards. We brought some nice food with us and as he has been given a bottle of whisky by each of his children I think he will enjoy a nightcap.
