The Great Wave

This jigsaw is one of the Fine Art Collection - puzzles that use what is called 'Smart Cut Technology' where every piece is unusual and unique and they fit together perfectly. They are very tricky, as it is not at all obvious where a particular piece will fit, although very satisfying when a piece suddenly clicks into place. Having done one of these before, I said I would not do another one but, when I saw this at the shop in Grasmere, I just had to have it. 

The Great Wave of Kanagawa is a famous woodblock print by the Japanese artist Katsushika Kokusai. It was created in 1831 as part of a series: Thirty Six views of Mount Fuji. We went to a Hokusai exhibition in London a few years ago and I fell in love with his amazing work. This particular print was made using Prussian Blue, a pigment which at the time had only just reached Japan from China. It is a dramatic evocation of the power of the sea and the weakness of humans. 

Now I am trying to complete the puzzle as we have visitors arriving tomorrow and I want to set out a more easily accessible one to have out. Do I continue with the 'one piece at a time' or abandon it?
