Today's the day ....................... to go down to the woods
If you live round here, there's one thing that you have to do every year - a bit like Christmas or Easter or your birthday. The word goes round that now is the time because "they're at their best" - and then you have to go over to Brigsteer Woods to see the wild daffodils.
This is them today, stretching as far as the eye could see with their petite yellow heads fluttering and dancing in the breeze. William Wordsworth had the right idea although I think his ones were over at Ullswater.
They are later than normal in appearing this year, held back by the cold weather no doubt - but somehow that made them even more magical than ever ................
