MONO MONDAY - ANAGRAM

PORT - today’s Mono Monday challenge was to find an anagram from the word “Photography” and take a shot of something depicting that word.  I managed to find three bottles of Port in our drinks cupboard - two not even opened and goodness knows how long they have been in there!

Here is my offering and I must say that it is the quickest I have ever taken a photograph and  been happy with it - and before you ask, No, I hadn’t imbibed at all - I’m only just on my first cup of coffee for the day!

Mr. HCB loves a glass of Port - and a "good one" it has to be - with a few cream crackers and a piece of cheese but I’m not that keen and he says it’s not quite the same drinking it on your own!

Whilst chatting, Mr. HCB told me that one of his best memories is sharing a glass of Port with Melvin, his  best friend, who died some years ago.  Whenever we went to Melvin and Julia’s for a meal, it invariably ended with a glass of port so while Julia and I chatted about our family or gardening, and our children played together, our husbands could generally be heard reminiscing about their exploits when they used to go yachting or walking together.  Mr. HCB tells me that they always had a glass of Port to round off the evening on their walking weekends.

Mr. HCB has also shared many glasses of Port with our older son, Martyn, who also enjoys a “good” Port but of course, they haven’t done this for a while because of the pandemic, but perhaps they should start doing it again before the Port goes off!

I'm sure that Mr. HCB and Melvin would agree with this quote:

“Port is not for the very young,
     the vain and the active;
          it is the comfort of age
 and the companion
     of the scholar
           and the philosopher.”
