Today is known as Mothering Sunday, Braggot Sunday (Braggot, Bragget, Bragot or Bracket Sunday, after the drink. Braggot, honeyed ale, a bit like mead, from the Anglo Saxon ‘bragawd’), Refreshment Sunday, Pudding Pie Sunday, Mid-Lent Sunday, Simnel Sunday, Rose Sunday, Laetare Sunday and the Sunday of the Five Loaves. But for many, it’s Mothering Sunday, commonly known as Mother’s Day.
