Muralla de Avila

The most famous feature of Avila are the walls which completely enclose the old city. They were completed between the 11th and 14th century and are very well-maintained. It is possible to walk about half-way around the top of the walls.  We did that and then completed a circuit on the outside. There were some great views inside the city and out to the surrounding area. Avila is the highest city in Spain 1,132 metres above sea level. Despite the fine day the air was quite chilly.
