Chasing swallowtails

My butterflychasing has been extended into Sunday. I was walking on the "unusual" side (where I'll soon be moving) of "my" river, and noticed a peach tree in blossom across a small tributary stream. The pink flowers were irresistible so I crossed the stream -which was not difficult as it was complete dry, and pulled out my camera. I could have stayed there for the rest of the day! What a joy to see a (scarce) swallowtail butterfly enjoying peach-nectar on a sunny day. I hope you pardon the brackets around the scarce, I just don't find this butterfly any scarcer than other swallowtails butterflies! In case you were wondering, its latin name is Iphiclides podalarius, which might seem a bit disappointing for such a beautiful species that could surely be described with appropriate latin/greek adjectives, but I guess that its beauty was just so striking to the early naturalists that it was given a name that would forever connect it with no less than two figures of greek mythology: Iphicles, the half- brother of Heracles, and Podaleirios the son of Asclepios, the god of medicine.

I couldn't resist to add some extras.
Hope you are having a happy Sunday
