Tree!
I didn't realize yesterday was Joe Tree day. Thank you to everyone who helped create this community and to everyone who makes it wonderful today.
The trees have begun blooming.
Samuel got to steal a toy today. The best toys are the ones you steal yourself.
If cooking starts to get a little dull, go back to goat cheese. Oh goat cheese. I'm so glad I went to Pakistan and discovered goat cheese. You probably think there are easier ways, but hey, whatever works. Goat cheese quesadilla and a sound roof in the rain and life is good.
I genuinely impressed last Friday. I made a quotable statement about the cost of electricity versus the cost of not having electricity. I combined it with a memorable story. I said it all with passion. Not bad for the only panel member wearing a mask. I have been very humble at work because I know what I don't know and I think I surprised my coworkers because even today I got to hear about it.
Thank you for letting me know you like the positive news and that it is not inappropriate or tone-deaf.
Britain imposed sanctions on 65 more Russian companies and people, including the daughter of the woman who was installed as a puppet mayor of the Ukrainian city of Melitopol.
The US will accept 100,000 Ukrainian refugees and donate $1B to help Europe deal with the surge.
A man named Mick Swinhoe bought a house near Cambridge for no real reason. He is now lending it to a family of 10 Ukrainians aged 10 to 90. The grandmother doesn't have a valid international passport but somehow they managed to get her across every border. They also brought their two dogs. Swinhoe's daughters will help the Ukrainian kids adjust to their new school.
Incredibly exciting (so glad it wasn't me) story about a lion and a wolf who were evacuated from Ukraine with no tranquilizers - because there weren't any - or vet - because they couldn't find one. The animals were fully awake, in cages. A bunch of animal rights groups worked together. Two men from the UK drove them. They were denied entry at one border point so they had to drive 1,000 km away to another one. They are in quarantine now. Later they'll go to a zoo for a while and then an animal sanctuary.
