Lady in Red
A semi isolated dash at 8am to the waves with Sue this morning. The tide was out again but not quite as far out as that of Friday. Because I will be reduced to paddling for the next few weeks, I was determined to go the whole hog and get my head under the water. Equipped with earplugs, swimming cap and goggles, I managed a few strokes of crawl before I got ‘ice cream head’ with a vengeance.
The only time I have experienced this kind of pain before was several years ago when I drank a Piña Colada in Key West and that pain lasted much longer than today’s.
Not wanting to repeat the head freeze, I had to resort to to a matronly breast stroke and just ‘dooking’.
It was such a joy to take time getting dressed and feel the sun on our backs warming up the operation with no icy east wind threatening to give us hypothermia.
