Today's the day ...................... for wall art

I came across this mural today - on the wall of Paterson ATV, Motorcycle Specialists, in the back streets of Dalbeattie. 
 
It features the firm’s founder James Paterson and it was carried out by Paisley based artist, Mark Gorrie (who goes by the name Mark Worst) on behalf  of the company’s current owner and grandson of James - Mark Paterson.  He came up with the idea a few years ago when he was on an American motorcycle road trip and saw a similar idea on the High Voltage Tattoo building.. 
 
The painting is a mix of two photographs featuring James, known as Jimmy, who started the company after WWII.  One shows him riding a New Imperial at the Isle of Man TT in the early 1950s. The other is from the end of the decade at Airds Motocross Track just outside Crossmichael. It also features a building that was a starter’s hut for the Galloway Motorcycle Club, of which Jimmy had lifetime membership.
 
It's a striking mural that is helping to brighten up Dalbeattie.....................
