pebble underneath my feet

we'll stay inside til somebody finds us

Long journey back to Tokyo from Kanazawa. Dropped my bag off at a locker in Shinjuku and went to the Ghibli Museum in Mitaka. It was absolutely magical, and made me feel a bit like a kid again, discovering a precious treasure. One of my favourite bits was this carousel sort of thing with lots of figurines of characters from their films. The carousel would turn and at the same time, a light flashed every millisecond, creating still images giving the impression that all the figurines were moving. The cat bus was wiggling its paws, flying across the sky whilst Totoro closed and opened his umbrella whilst dancing. I haven't explained it very well, but it was amazing. You're not allowed to take any pictures inside the museum so I'll have to try and remember what it was like and how much I liked it.

I stayed with Thanuja, a couch surfer, tonight. She's one of the kindest people I've ever met....really trying to make me feel welcome and comfortable in her apartment. I was a bit overwhelmed by her generosity to be honest.

We went out for dinner for some okonomiyaki and nishi-san, a local speciality which was kind of like a Japanese taco. Delicious. These are the friendly people who ran the restaurant.
