Well I finished week two at the new school. I'm slowly gaining the trust of my student but it's a constant balancing act and quite exhausting. But today was a half day for the kids and the staff got to work on some things once they had left. I have a small room where my student and I have been spending some time but it's been a dumping ground for all sorts of furniture, books, and supplies for some time. Needless to say it's not really a calming room or safe with all the bits and pieces that could be thrown. Today though I got to clean it up. I had some really good help which I was worried whether I would or not. We moved things to other rooms, to storage or threw things away. Now the room has one shelf with some supplies, one long table, 3 chairs and a mat, blanket and pillow to chill out on. Whew! I think it will make a big difference. We are also getting some sort of swing/hammock thing that will fit in there to use to calm down. I hope it's not too big.
The day was beautiful in the 60s! So I went for a nice walk after I left, down the wharf road. I took this detail on one of the houses I pass. I really like the shadow through the cutouts.
The extra would have been good for tiny Tuesday but it happened today. My kiddo may have some issues but fine motor skills isn't one of them. She made these tiny fruits and veggies. There are carrots, strawberries, blue berries, a piece of cantaloupe, a banana and a kiwi fruit. They are just a couple millimeters each, laid out on a tissue. I bought the clay last night and it was a big hit.
