cooking up a storm

A bit of an EB tonight due to an impromptu visit from Eldest Son. Luckily I had bought a packet of dried mushrooms in the Polish shop and used them to augment the stroganoff I was cooking for tea. I’ve never cooked mushroom stroganoff before.. it is too often the vegetarian option on a menu when I’m eating out. However, my long-awaited new cookbook is here and I thought I’d give it a go. Last night I had made an upside down lemon cake from this same book, and we ate the other half of it for dessert.

James Wythe is a cook with an interesting story to tell - previously healthy and a sports science graduate, he became I’ll suddenly in 2010 and was bed bound for two years, finally being diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. As part of his recovery, he taught himself to cook, having been advised by a nutritionist to cut dairy and gluten from his diet. I won’t spoil the story for you,Read it here! but it ends happily. James got married in 2018, started a food blog and has now published his first cookbook.

(The stroganoff was very tasty!)
