Cleanup 3

Piles of rubbish have been lying on our grass verges for more than two weeks now. It’s all part of the Council cleanup, and we joke about the scavengers and what they will and won’t take away overnight.

On television we see piles of rubbish on the streets further north, too. They are coated in thick, black mud and they are made up of the possessions of thousands of people who have lost everything they had in the floods. Thousands of houses are uninhabitable and thousands of people have nowhere to live and no worldly possessions.

It makes you ashamed of our trivial little cleanup.
