Resi, the Equine Pensioner
I met my oldest friend A today - we have known each other for almost 45 years, when we both were teenagers and horse enthusiasts at the same riding school. I gave up horse riding in my 20es, but she never did.
This is Resi, the older one of her two horses. At the age of 19, Resi is retired and spends her days grazing and (sometimes) running wild with a group of other equine pensioners in the Taunus hills. Once a week, A and her husband M visit Resi to groom her and make sure she’s okay.
Today, I went along to meet the horses, and go for a walk and a meal with the humans. It almost felt like a holiday and helped us forget the growing horror of the news for a few hours.
