Remembering the Riveters
A good day spent exploring the hills and reservoirs behind Whinhill and Port Glasgow. The shipbuilders sculpture in Coronation Park by John McKenna was startling. There’s around 30 tonnes of stainless steel that looks like flimsy bacofoil, the apron of the riveter on the right was astonishing, it almost seemed to move in the wind. The thump thump of the fair alongside added to the authenticity.
