John Knox's House
A consultation is taking place to discuss Edinburgh's Royal Mile and ways in which it can remain attractive for tourists while still serving the interests of the local residents and businesses.
This picture from an old book is painted by the famous Victorian John Fulleylove of 'John Knox's House' and as the artist died in 1908 it shows the scene of well over 100 years ago. There are no horses and carts or washing suspended high above the street now but presumably there were very few souvenir shops then.
