I often moan about rudeness so here is some praise, for balance. I stood by the roadside, waiting to photograph this fine row of shops. There was quite a lot of traffic. A car stopped to allow me to cross. I mimed that I didn't want to cross, thanks very much.  Then a van driver, coming in the other direction did the same. After he had been gratefully waved on his way, a group of walkers paused, thinking I didn't want them in my shot. I very much did and so waited for them to stream along the footway. Rudeness would have been far less time-consuming :-)
