My Favorite Dam

I enjoy shooting landscapes and recently have been blipping other subjects. It is great to broaden your skills and makes it even more enjoyable to return to what you know and are comfortable with. Shooting something comfortable also provides and added benefit of an early blip and early bed time. Last night was a very late night with a town meeting followed by the creation of Trouble with George part 2.

I featured this dam in an earlier blip. I find the angular nature of the supports intriguing. You can see the same pattern in the original, but it emphasized the sky and the reflection. This blip was composed to highlight the angles.

There is a side story about this dam. A friend called me asking about the original blip and where I shot it. I readily provided the information and was curious about why he cared. As it turned out, his wife was a dam engineer and was surprised that the dam buttresses were located on the back of the dam. (I guess the norm is for them to be built on the other side.) She wanted to learn about the dam and possibly visit it herself! Who knew that I had chosen a unique structure? I just thought that it looked nice. So much for my skills of engineering. :-)

Spot healing brush and clone stamp on separate layer to hide annoying chain link fence

Constructive criticism always welcome
