Highs and lows

Anya had a great time this afternoon with Grandma and Grandad visiting. She had guinea cuddles, made cheese scones and mackerel pate with Grandma and completed her Maths homework with Grandad.
She put on a brave face most of the day after finding out her goldfish, Sunshine had finally died. It’s been poorly a while now but it was her first ever pet and she was quite attached. She smiled through the day until bedtime, when she needed a big hug and finally let her tears out. She’s decided she’ll paint a pebble for Sunshine and leave it where she chooses to bury it. It all seems rather trivial after hearing yet more horrific news from Ukraine today but, thankfully Anya and Max have little awareness of the situation and can carry on blissfully unaware as all children should be able to.
