Amandine's Plot Treize

By AmandineJardine

First loganberry shoots

When I moved my fruit trees to the back of the plot in the autumn and had the idea to train the loganberry around the compost heap, I knew it would get the best deal - sunny but not too hot location (which benefits from the shade of the neighbour's damson tree in the summer), rich soil and close to bee hotel for easy pollination.

But it's impossible not to worry a bit when you move a plant to a new location. So I'm obviously delighted to see the first signs of life!

We've started covering pruning and training in my horticultural course, and I got myself the RHS Pruning & Training book. I'm really interested in this topic and hope to learn a lot in the next few months.

I've fixed wire all around the pallets of the compost heap and this loganberry will give me a good chance to practice!
