Vigilant
Waking to news that a Russian column was bombarding a nuclear power station, I felt sick. Later, I felt tearful, in a good way, seeing these scenes in a Berlin station where refugees are arriving. A much-needed reminder that most people want to help fellow humans in need.
Life (for some of us) goes on. Today we started our project of finding a house to rent for next year that ticks all of our boxes including "Close enough to the town centre to walk there". So we explored some streets not far from our previous abode, most of them lined with large and clearly unaffordable houses. But there were a few possibles, and it's worth a try. We dropped notes in letterboxes. Extra: couldn't resist a typical view of Los Marinos.
When we'd had enough of doing that, we walked down to the Chinese shop to get some drawing pins (chinchetas, what a nice word!) to attach our temporary cover for the broken window. In need of refreshment, we stopped at Sabina's for a drink at a table outside and in the 20 minutes we were there spotted four people we know walking by -- Danes P and S, who used to be classmates in our previous Spanish class, and French friend J (who lunched with us yesterday) and her son B. It all felt reassuringly normal.
Quiet evening in now ... the leftover cheese is calling me.
