Snæfellsnes
We were up bright and early to catch the bus to Snæfellsnes for our tour out there. We waited a long time past the time and it seemed a bit chaotic in that so many different buses arrived with lots of people there and no-one knew which bus might be the right one. Eventually our bus arrived and called our name so we climbed on - simples!
It's a long ride out there but the driver/guide did a good commentary and it was very enjoyable. There were lots of stops, some of which interest me more than others. We had a lunch stop at a horse farm and had a great home cooked meal and even had some vegetables, which have been a bit absent from my diet since we arrived here.
I have lots of pictures, of course, seals on rocks, sea stacks, blow holes but I'm just going to upload one extra as it's very late (we didn't get back until 8.45 pm). That's one of the Budakirkja, the black church at Budir. We've also been to Ytri Tunga for the seals, Arnarstapi, Djúpalónssandur and Snaefellsjokul National Park with its lava fields.
The last stop of the day was at Kirkjufell. As we arrived, the light was good and there was some nice colour in the sky - perfect! I have loads of pics but I've done a quick pano and chosen this one as my main blip. It's Kirkjufellfoss {the waterfall) with Kirjufell (the mountain) behind. We were lucky because as we drove away the light went and it started to rain. We have had all sorts of weather during the day.
It was this area that we would have stayed in for four nights if the roads had allowed us to get there. It was good to be able to see its special sites. Should sleep well tonight!
Oops, forgot to load the extra. It's there now.
